Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) during the year 1983 constructed this Recreation Centre on a vast piece of land admeasuring about seven acres. This Centre was subsequently handed over to the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Late Padmashree Babubhai Rathi, the founder of Industrial Estate at Nashik, in the year 1983. A Board of Trustees and the Governing Council included representatives from Large, Medium and Small scale Industries. The nominees from MIDC, Nashik Industries Manufacturers Association (NIMA) and NICE joined the group and completed the quorum. This Centre was then in the infant stage and offered minimum facilities such as Badminton Court, a Billiards Room and a Tennis Court. It also provided an auditorium with a seating capacity of around 200 people and an Open Air Stage at the rear of the Auditorium. The facilities available were maintained well to promote this Welfare Centre to a prestigious level.

About NIWEC

NIWEC is Situated in the Industrial heart land of Satpur and surrounded by lush greenery, located approximately five kilometers from Central Bus Stand between Gangapur and Trimbak Road, Nashik. Industries have a Welfare Centre, popularly known as NIWEC, which hardly needs any introduction for the Nasikites. It is registered as a Charitable Trust. Located in the serene surroundings, it is the most sought after place for the Industrialists to forget and ease the stress and tensions of the hectic life schedule.

This Centre was then in the infant stage and offered minimum facilities such as Badminton Court with cement flooring, a Billiards Room and a Tennis Court. It also provided an auditorium with a seating capacity of around 200 people and an Open Air Stage at the rear of the Auditorium. The facilities available were maintained well to promote this Welfare Centre to a prestigious level. The expansion program of NIWEC was undertaken from 1989 in stages. A fund raising program was undertaken to convert the cemented flooring of the court into wooden flooring.

Thereafter this Centre has never looked back. The Children Park, Health Club, Green Gym at Joggers Pack, and Lawns were subsequently added. Bar & Restaurant which was added later to fulfill the needs of the users. The latest addition to the facilities of the Centre is an enviable Joggers Park, Swimming Pool. The future vision includes Residential Suites, Volley Ball and Basket Ball Courts.

The democratic norms govern the administration of NIWEC. The election to the Governing Council is held once in two years. The administration of the Centre is controlled by the Governing Council which has representatives from Donor, Patron and Life Members. The Office Bearers are elected from the Governing Council Members and the various portfolios assigned to them for the ease of governance.

Governing Council renovated the existing Auditorium with modern amenities, best in Nashik, is suitable for Conferences, Educational Workshops, Training Sessions, Meetings, Cultural Program etc. The Governing Council further constructed a Mini Utility Centre on the front Lawn where small parties / receptions and other functions alike can be hosted. Out of four lawn tennis courts two Courts are provided with the flood lights to enable the members to play during the night, In the month of October, 2013 Card Room & On 6th June, 2014 Two Synthetic Courts have been added, a Swimming Pool, which are also the latest additions. NIWEC has prepared an ambitious master plan which includes proposals for Major Utility Centre, two Volley Ball courts, two Basket Ball courts and fully equipped Suites for visitors within the premises. This shall enable the Centre to have affiliations with other clubs in Metros.

The Centre encourages sports activities by regularly conducting Tournaments in different sports and also conducts coaching to bring up the talents from the budding youngsters with the help of reputed coaches. The yearly Sports extravaganza “NIWEC OPEN” conducted in the month of December / January is one of the major attractions. There is active participation from all members. The upcoming talented children get an opportunity to exhibit their talents in various games. This has increased the popularity of these tournaments every successive year.

NIWEC is at the forefront in the cultural activities. Every second Friday of the month NIWEC organized Tambola. During Navaratri festve, Diwali, and other occasions Tabola celebrated in a special Way. Gathering around 400 members enjoy every year at Sp. Diwali Tambola with Fire-Works. Parties and get-togethers have elevated NIWEC to an enviable position.

In September 2011 NIWEC entered in to Reciprocal Agreement with Country Club (India) Limited (CCIL) and in the April 2013 with Aurangabad Sports Club.
